When I first read the field notes of Annie Alexander and Louise Kellogg, I was fascinated by the descriptions they wrote about the places they went and the plants and animals they found there. By publishing my field notes on the Internet I hope to follow a little bit in their tradition.

North Wild Horse Mesa, of 63 plants, none successfully set seed. Three plants started to bud but none completed the cycle. All three were receiving afternoon shade from a Pinyon. Found one S. a. that produced seed. Collected about half the remaining seed, scattered the rest. Was in bottom of a wash.

Took one specimen, outside quadrat, that had budded and failed. The root looks to be alive and viable so it might bloom next season.
