Query: G.N.I.S.

The post office was established in 1919 and named Davies Mill. In 1921 the name was changed to the present one, a contraction from near-by Gray Eagle Creek. This name may have some connection with Edward D. Baker, the "Gray Eagle of Republicanism," who was in the mining region in 1856 while stumping the State for Fremont (Gudde, 1969)
