  Asteraceae Solidago spectabilis

Coll. No. 1022, 24 July 2014, characters observed while keying: Perennial herb to 75 cm.; Stem hairy distally, fewer hairs proximally, not waxy, distal nodes with axillary leaf clusters; Leaves alternate, lanceolate, 85 mm. × 13 mm. wide, generally glabrous,not resinous, proximal leaves withered at flowering (assumed to having been equal in size to mid-cauline leaves), margins weakly serrate, and with very small hairs; Inflorescence pyramid-shaped; Peduncle bracts not glandular; Involucre 3 mm.; Phyllaries in 2+ graduated series, outer without oil glands; Heads many, small (5 mm. × 4 mm. dia.), not resinous; Flowers of two kinds, at least some strap-shaped; Receptacle epaleate; Rays, yellow, fertile; Disc, yellow, fertile; Pappus of well-developed bristles, in single row.
